__________________DIONA________________

- Diona is an indigenous type of Filipino short poem that consists of seven syllables in each line. Diona is an indigenous type of Filipino short poem that is used traditionally in the Tagalog language to impart lessons and reminders of our folks to young people.

Diona is a pre-Hispanic rhyming poem of three lines with seven syllables in each line expressing a complete thought.

The diona is an indigenous or native Tagalog fixed poetic form. The traditional diona is composed of three octosyllabic lines with a monorhyme, or three lines containing eight syllables each that rhyme with one another. Since it is made up of three lines, the diona has been labeled by some Filipino literary enthusiasts as the Pinoy haiku. Like the other traditional Tagalog songs, the diona was originally sung rather than recited. The diona as a domestic song could either be a courting song or a wedding song.

________________________TANAGA_______________________

The Tanaga is an indigenous type of Filipino poem, that is used traditionally in the Tagalog language. The modern tanaga is used in a variety of Philippine languages and English due to popularity in the 20th century. Its usage declined in the later half of the 20th century, but was revived through a collectivity of Filipino artists in the 21st century.

The poetic art uses four lines, each line having seven syllables only. The art exemplifies teachings, idioms, feelings, and ways of life. It contains many figures of speech.

-The Tagalog tanaga, which dates back to 1500, has been referred to as the Philippine equivalent of the Japanese haiku, but this is totally wrong. Tanaga is a poem composed of four lines with each line having seven syllables, written in aaaa or aabb, abba, or abab rhyming pattern. Tanaga have no titles. Below is an example of a tanaga.

_________________HAIKU_________________

The haiku is a Japanese poetic form that consists of three lines, with five syllables in the first line, seven in the second, and five in the third. The haiku developed from the hokku, the opening three lines of a longer poem known as a tanka. The haiku became a separate form of poetry in the 17th century

Haiku did not flourish in the Philippines until the Internet. The Internet brought haiku to some individual Filipino writers. However, the eventual resurgence of haiku poetry writing in the Philippines is ineffaceably connected to different organizations and / or groups, who discussed and promoted haiku poetry. Below are some haiku organizations and / or group

_________SHAKEPEAREAN SONNET__________

A Shakespearean sonnet is a variation on the Italian sonnet tradition. The form evolved in England during and around the time of the Elizabethan era. These sonnets are sometimes referred to as Elizabethan sonnets or English sonnets.

Although Shakespeare’s sonnets have prominently endured for centuries, he was hardly alone in his embrace of this poetic style. Many prominent English poets of the day, from John Donne to John Milton, also wrote sonnets. Shakespearean sonnets feature the following elements: They are fourteen lines long. The fourteen lines are divided into four subgroups. The first three subgroups have four lines each, which makes them “quatrains,” with the second and fourth lines of each group containing rhyming words. The sonnet then concludes with a two-line subgroup, and these two lines rhyme with each other. There are typically ten syllables per line, which are phrased in iambic pentameter.

___________FREE VERSE POEM____________

Free verse is here defined as a poem with no set meter or verse that mimics natural speech patterns. Free verse poems can be short or long, contain sporadic rhymes or none at all, and be conveyed in spoken or written mediums. Because a free verse poem isn’t tied to any specific form, poets generally have more room to experiment with structure than they would with other styles.

Critics argue that since they contain no regular rhyme and meter, free verse poems are just glorified prose. But those who write or appreciate free verse feel that free verse has it's own tools beyond meter or rhyme—like punctuation, line break, and vocabulary—that makes it just as legitimate of a poetic form as other styles.

___________PROSE POETRY/POEM___________

A prose composition that, while not broken into verse lines, demonstrates other traits such as symbols, metaphors, and other figures of speech common to poetry.

When it comes to creative expression within the English language, most artforms fall into one of two categories: prose or poetry. Prose includes pieces of writing like novels, short stories, novellas, and scripts. These kinds of writing contain the kind of ordinary language heard in everyday speech. Poetry includes song lyrics, various poetry forms, and theatrical dialogue containing poetic qualities, like iambic parameters.

However, prose and poetry are not completely stratified such that one can never contain the elements of the other. The prose poem is a creative writing format that combines elements of the poetic form and the prose form.
